Guidant Global already had an established partnership with a global Fortune 200 personal care corporation dating back to 2017. Previously focusing only on corporate roles, Guidant is now the client’s MSP for all contingent and Statement of Work requirements.
When the pandemic hit, the client suddenly needed urgent support to increase temporary headcount to ensure business-critical production could continue and make its operating mills safe during the pandemic.
The client needed to continue operating at full capacity while implementing the right Covid-safety measures across mills that were critical to business continuity.
Each facility’s multiple entrances had to be covered by a temperature checker who could also ensure that every person entering the building signed a declaration statement. Around 4,000 employees would be on the premises on any given day, working different shift patterns, with the majority of mills operating 24/7.

Guidant had to scale up numbers very quickly at short notice to build the capability to deal with a growing workload during a difficult time.
Guidant was approached to source and manage a temporary workforce of around 400 temperature takers for 26 production mills, most of which were open round the clock. From an initial quota of 50, Guidant had to scale quickly to support the client’s urgent needs.
As well as the increased flexibility and enhanced visibility, the support provided by Guidant Global at this critical juncture enabled the client organisation to win more work and expand its footprint both regionally and globally.
The programme delivered a total of $9.1m in cost reductions, including $4.7m in bill rate reduction and $4.4m savings in working capital.
Guidant sourced 387 temperature takers, scaling far beyond the original quota of 50 to meet urgent operational requirements.
By 2020, Guidant was supporting 32 client locations, up from the original eight locations supported in 2019.
Across all the mills, 98-100% fill rate levels are now achieved, supporting reliable workforce coverage across the programme.
Communication was a key component of the programme’s success. The dedicated hotline enabled Guidant to monitor changes and respond swiftly to unexpected staff absences, while daily reports gave mill managers total visibility of staffing resources and spend.
