Our client, a major US healthcare provider, engaged Guidant Global to manage their non-employee workforce program with a core focus on their complementary IT workforce.
As a strategic workforce solutions provider, Guidant Global provides clients with fresh innovative approaches to better manage and engage non-employee workers. This includes both standard and complex categories of work, using the latest technology, and understanding the latest workforce trends.
In collaboration with our prestigious healthcare customer, we developed a considered approach that would evolve their IT resourcing strategy over a phased roadmap. Using our experience and expertise, we knew that an administrative SOW holds intrinsic value, but full procure-to-pay automation and competitive sourcing would unlock the maximum ROI for our customer.
Guidant Global’s first objective was to establish a controlled engagement framework, as well as VMS automation for all contingent workers. This was a major undertaking, especially as the client had a previously unmanaged environment with substantial spend, highly specialized roles and niche suppliers.
The client had a previously unmanaged environment, making it important to establish a controlled engagement framework for non-employee workforce activity.
Despite the substantial spend involved, Guidant Global felt the programme was necessary for the client to get maximum value from their contingent workforce.
The programme needed to support highly specialized roles across the client’s complementary IT workforce and related SOW activity.
Niche supplier relationships needed to be managed in a way that created stronger visibility, better controls and more cost-optimized spending.
An administrative SOW held intrinsic value, but full procure-to-pay automation and competitive sourcing would unlock the maximum ROI for the customer.
Once the contingent programme was operating at high efficiency, Guidant Global captured all SOW activity within SAP Fieldglass. This provided new levels of visibility, helped track resources, onboarding and payment data, mitigated risk, streamlined operations and delivered actionable intelligence to drive better supplier engagement and cost-optimized spending.
Expanding the programme to SOW increased visibility to over 300 previously hidden IT resources. It helped streamline the supply base, improved supplier comparison and evaluation, reduced SOW approval times and created additional cost savings through competitive bidding.
Expanding the programme to SOW increased visibility to over 300 previously hidden IT resources across areas including digital, EMR, Lawson and more.
The visibility helped streamline the supply base to 30-50 essential SOW suppliers, depending on specialty.
The Guidant Global team manages the SOW engagement, setting strict timelines for suppliers. Approval times for SOWs have decreased from 2 months to 3-5 days.
The client can now easily compare and evaluate shortlisted suppliers on metrics such as quality and pricing, supporting more strategic and informed decision making.
Optimizing the VMS tool for SOW created efficiencies that were not previously realized, with the VMS serving as a hub for all records and resulting in tighter controls, reduced risk and greater compliance.
The first competitive SOW resulted in 76% cost savings relative to the incumbent suppliers’ last paid price, without degradation in quality.
In another recent case, Guidant Global was able to save the client $45 per hour when comparing SOW T&M rates to contingent worker rates and leveraging a competitive bid process.
