#OperationLastPost by Hockey for Heroes smashes their fundraising goals

June 3rd, 2023, saw the conclusion of #OperationLastPost, a 9-day event where sportsmen and women played 54 games of hockey and underwent 457 kilometers of endurance challenges, with a goal of raising £100,000 for veteran charity Help for Heroes. Guidant Global is proud to be Hockey for Heroes head tour sponsor.

To date, over £75,000 has been raised online, and when including offline fundraising efforts, the initial objective of £100,000 has been surpassed, with a total of £107,000 raised from this tour.

Joel Forrester, Client Solutions Director UK & Europe at Guidant Global and founder of Hockey for Heroes comments:

The sheer logistical madness of this trip was a lot to take on 8 months ago when planning began, however the culture and values that we have created over the last 12 years in Hockey for Heroes ensured this was an inevitable success. Every member of the 59 strong touring party played an integral part in planning and executing this trip, which demonstrates the value of their clearly defined purpose.”

"Hockey for Heroes was formed 12 years ago, when a group of hockey enthusiasts decided to use their sport to play their part and support military and former military personnel when they needed it. The core and only value of being a part of Hockey for Heroes is fundamentally showing the traits and values of being a good person".

Joel continues:

There were challenges, broken bones, torn muscles, fatigue, damaged vehicles, tears, smiles and loads and loads of fun along the way, but to sit here looking back with such pride on how the members of Hockey For Heroes represented the fallen heroes and the heroes still in society fighting wars long after they returned from battle, speaks volumes about our passion and why we do what we do.

I speak for every Hockey for Heroes member, past and present, soldier, airmen, sailor, marine and veteran when I send an enormous thank you to Guidant Global, Simon Blockley & the Marketing team for their unquestionable support on this trip. Long may this relationship develop and continue.”

Simon Blockley, CEO of Guidant Global states:

“Guidant Global has a proud history of supporting the military, which is why we were so delighted to sponsor this tour. To see the team exceed their fundraising targets so confidently is testament to all the hard work they have put into the organisation of this ambitious event, as well as to their enthusiastic sporting efforts! Congratulations to everyone involved.”

As the dust settles on a remarkably successful #OperationLastPost trip, planning begins for a very exciting Guinness World Record attempt in 2024. *Watch this space*.
